Ravens vs Cowboys

Ravens Stun Cowboys 34-31 in Rio as Tyler Loop Finds Redemption

Sports

The Baltimore Ravens pulled off a dramatic 34-31 victory over the Dallas Cowboys on Sunday night in Rio de Janeiro, with kicker Tyler Loop delivering a stunning 56-yard field goal as time expired.

The game marked the first NFL game played in Rio de Janeiro, and the finish provided a memorable ending for the Brazilian crowd.

Tyler Loop Delivers When It Matters Most

Loop’s game-winning kick carried additional significance after he previously missed a potential season-ending field goal in Baltimore’s playoff race last season.

With the score tied at 31-31 and only seconds remaining, quarterback Lamar Jackson connected with Zay Flowers on a 27-yard completion. Jackson quickly called timeout with one second left, giving Baltimore an opportunity to attempt the long field goal.

Loop then calmly converted the 56-yard attempt, sending the Ravens into celebration and securing a 34-31 win.

Cowboys Rally After Falling Behind

Dallas started strongly and built an early advantage, but Baltimore responded with 17 consecutive points before halftime.

The Ravens eventually opened a 24-13 lead in the third quarter. The Cowboys refused to go away, however, with Dak Prescott helping lead a comeback.

Dallas cut the deficit with a touchdown from tight end Jake Ferguson before KaVontae Turpin later scored on a 9-yard touchdown run to give the Cowboys a 28-24 advantage.

Baltimore responded with a late touchdown from rookie tight end Matt Hibner, putting the Ravens ahead 31-28 with 1:30 remaining.

The Cowboys then drove into scoring range. A late pass-interference penalty against Baltimore helped put Dallas near the goal line, but the Ravens defense prevented a touchdown. Brandon Aubrey converted a 23-yard field goal with seven seconds left to tie the game at 31.

Lamar Jackson and Derrick Henry Lead Baltimore

Jackson finished with 186 passing yards and two touchdowns, while also contributing 50 rushing yards.

Running back Derrick Henry delivered two rushing touchdowns and 89 yards on the ground. Henry also moved past Hall of Famer Eric Dickerson into ninth place on the NFL’s all-time rushing list.

Flowers played a major role in the decisive final sequence, finishing with five receptions for 84 yards. His 27-yard catch with seven seconds remaining put Baltimore in position for Loop’s winning kick.

Ravens Defense Makes Key Plays

Baltimore’s defense also produced several important moments.

Safety Keondre Jackson blocked a 59-yard field-goal attempt by Aubrey in the third quarter, helping preserve Baltimore’s lead at the time.

The Ravens ultimately held Dallas to a field goal on its final scoring drive, allowing Jackson, Flowers and Loop to produce the decisive seven-second sequence.

A Memorable Night for the NFL in Brazil

The matchup was the NFL’s first game in Rio de Janeiro, with the historic contest taking place at Maracanã Stadium.

The announced attendance was 72,792, as the Ravens and Cowboys delivered a high-scoring game that remained undecided until the final second.

Final Score

Baltimore Ravens 34, Dallas Cowboys 31

The Ravens improved to 2-1, while the Cowboys fell to 1-2. Baltimore will next face the Tennessee Titans, while Dallas is scheduled to visit the Houston Texans.
